It’s been another busy week for the Engagement Team, that brought with it lots of donations!

👔 The team donated two lots of brand-new school uniform – one to St Stephens Primary School and another to accommodation for local homeless families.

🧶 The team also swung by the Friends of Fulwood Library Knitting Group to drop off a large donation of wool. The group is busy knitting Christmas items for their winter fair, and lucky Sharon got to try on one of their handmade hats. We think she’s found a new look!

🏡 Sharon and Lisa were around Fishwick on Wednesday in the sun, chatting to tenants during their Community pop up

💻 Our Annual General Meeting was on Thursday and the Engagement Team attended the screening at our extra-care scheme, The Courtyards. It was great to see so many tenants there, as well as those at Harbour House and watching the livestream.

🎨 We had exciting discussions with Age Concern Central Lancashire about future work together, and saw some of the great work that they've been doing.

🍰 This afternoon, Lisa dropped into Disability Equality North West - DENW, where Gateway tenant Margaret donated an amazing £1514.20 that she raised from her bake sales.

This week our Engagement Officers have been out and about in the Holme Slack area, chatting to tenants about our upcoming Annual General Meeting on 7th September as well as other ways to get involved.

We held the final session of our School Uniform Store on Thursday, taking the grand total of people we’ve helped to 101 families, providing 215 kids with 805 items of uniform ahead of the new school term 👔

Friday was the first time we’ve worked with new partners, Rebuild with Hope charity, who held a pop-up sale of high-street goods at heavily discounted prices at The Hub at St Bernards 🛒 The sale was really well attended, with lots of our tenants there to grab a bargain or two. Rebuild with Hope plough all profits back into the charity and are also donating a portion to help support CGA tenants over Winter. We’re looking forward to more joint projects in the future.

The team also called in at the last Cook, Eat, Repeat session this afternoon. These family cookery workshops have been really popular, helping tenants make budget friendly meals for everyone to enjoy 👨🏽‍🍳🥕

🕺 Everyone at our extra-care scheme, The Courtyards, was in a nostalgic mood on Monday, as they enjoyed a couple of hours of all things 1960s, including food and live entertainment. Lots of tenants join in with instruments, with some even getting up for a boogie.

🌞 It was Wellbeing Wednesday at one of our independent living schemes, Windsor Court, so our Engagement team popped along to the event where residents could find out more about local services, how to access health checks and activities they could get involved in. They were joined by Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service, Age Concern Central Lancs, Rays of Sunlight, Bees County Kitchen and Farleys Solicitors. Plus, the sun even shone!

It’s been another busy week for our Engagement and Communications team, as they’ve been out in our communities, getting tenants involved in a range of events and activities.

🌱 The weather didn’t put people off as we welcomed 24 adults and 38 children to our Family Fun Day at Moor Nook allotments for an afternoon of fun including face painting, exploring herbs, making bug hotels and learning all about a live wormery. Thanks to our friends at Let's Grow Preston for helping run the event.

👔 We held our first two School Uniform Store sessions. 58 families with 131 children dropped in and benefited from 484 items of free school uniform. It was lovely to be able to support so many people.

🙋‍♀️ Our Scrutiny Group met to continue their review into our Damp, Mould and Condensation processes. We also had another group of involved tenants who came along to our first ‘Tenant Talk’ meeting, to help us shape the content of our upcoming newsletter, select the design of our new-style factsheets and decide what content we need to include, plus much more. It was a very productive evening, with lots of really useful discussions which will help us improve the way we do things.

🥗 Beanstalk Food and Cookery held the first of five Cook, Eat, Repeat workshops, helping families get hands-on to create tasty meals together from budget-friendly ingredients. The sessions have been funded by our Community Fund, so Community Engagement & Support Officer Lisa popped in to chat to tenants taking part and join in the fun!
