    The cold and frosty weather hasnโ€™t deterred our hardy Engagement and Community Support Officers this week who put their big coats on to get out and about in our neighbourhoods. They have:


    โ›„ Presented tenants Amanda and David with a Winter Warmer pack and a gift voucher for completing their three-week Cost of Living course.


    ๐Ÿง‘ Spoken with tenants on community pop-ups in Plungington and Moor Nook and dropped in to say hello to our friends at LCC's Children and Family Wellbeing Service, who were running a drop-in for young people.


    ๐ŸŽจ Joined in with a coffee morning and arts and crafts session for residents at St Oswaldโ€™s.


    ๐Ÿฅ• Called in at our Moor Nook allotments ahead of a Winter session next week with plot-holders.

    โ“ Ever wondered what a week in the life of an Engagement and Community Support Officer looks like? This week has included ๐Ÿ‘‡

    ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ Supporting tenants to learn all about the benefits of cooking in an airfryer with Beanstalk Food and Cookery.


    ๐Ÿค Meeting a tenant in Ingol whoโ€™s keen to get a group together to improve the local area for everyone โ€“ he had some great ideas!


    ๐Ÿช‘ Donating furniture and equipment to support Let's Grow Preston Grow Preston at The Hub on Grange Park, which was gratefully received.


    ๐Ÿ Calling on tenants in the Farringdon Crescent area with Apples from our Tenancy Management Team to have a chat about any issues or concerns, as well as ways to get involved.


    ๐ŸŽˆ Plus our Tenancy Services team were on hand at The Watermills in Broughton, welcoming visitors to an open event to look around the development.

    It's time for highlights of the week from our busy Engagement team! This week has included a Community Interest Day at Ashton Methodist Church, a visit with our Tenancy Management Team to talk to tenants about anti-social behaviour, a group of tenants enjoyed a fun trip to Blackpool illuminations and a chippy tea with SHAPE Lancashire, plus the lovely task of dropping off a brand-new slow cooker to Mr and Mrs Davis, who won National Energy Action's prize draw at one of our recent Winter Warmer sessions โ€“ hope you enjoy some tasty soups and stews!

    ๐Ÿ‘‹ If you live in Moor Nook you might have spotted our Engagement Officers out and about at the beginning of another busy week, letting our tenants know about a huge range of activities, events and involvement opportunities we have on offer.

    ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ Residents at Chapelfold enjoyed another session of marvellous meals from the microwave, delivered by Lancashire Adult Learning!

    ๐ŸŽ‰ Eddie had a great meeting with The Princeโ€™s Trust, discussing joint community works and projects. He then had the lovely job of delivering a hamper of goodies to the winner of the childrenโ€™s raffle at our Winter Warmer session at the weekend. Lucky Lillith was really happy with her prize, especially as itโ€™s her 6th birthday today โ€“ happy birthday Lillith! We had an adult winner too โ€“ well done to Keeley, who won a hamper full of cleaning products.

    ๐Ÿ’ป On Thursday evening, our Tenant Talk group met to review and discuss CGAโ€™s website. They took part in several exercises and came up with some really useful and interesting insights which we will take on board going forward.

    ๐Ÿ• To round the week off, we worked with Beanstalk Food and Cookery to deliver an air-fryer cookery course at the Ascension Church in Brookfield, where the pizza toast went down a treat!

    ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Our Community Engagement Officers started the week with a pop-up in Deepdale. They were joined by two PCSOs who cover the area, plus our Early Action Officer, Amanda. As well as chatting to tenants about any issues and sharing involvement opportunities, the team enjoyed spotting some spooky Halloween decorations!

    ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธ The Halloween theme continued later in the week at Ingolcroft, where residents enjoyed a Halloween quiz and bingo โ€“ our team were there to chat and let people know about events and activities they can join in with.

    โ„๏ธ The first of two Winter Warmer sessions for tenants was held on Wednesday, and really helped the people who came along. There was an air-fryer cookery demo from Beanstalk Food and Cookery energy and money advice from National Energy Action, Green Doctors and our Tenancy Support team, plus everyone who attended was given a winter warmer pack, including a draft excluder, hot-water bottle, thermal mug, fleece blanket and more to help keep toasty in the colder weather. There was also a raffle for the chance to win a slow cooker โ€“ perfect for a warming stew or soup!

    ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ On Thursday, residents at Chapelfold enjoyed a session delivered by Lancashire Adult Learning, where they learned how to make a delicious corned beef hash using just a microwave!

    ๐ŸŽฎ One lucky winner received her prize voucher for coming 3rd in our online Halloween game, Groovy Graveyard. The game was available via our Tenant Hub โ€“ click here to find out how to join: https://shorturl.at/eQTUY

    ๐Ÿ‚ Itโ€™s the time of year to start tidying the garden, and our GreenCare team have been out in our communities completing their winter pruning โ€“ pictured are Operatives Pat and John whoโ€™d been making our Moor Nook allotment site look smart. The timing was perfect, as Engagement Officer Sharon was showing the site to someone interested in taking a plot.

    Itโ€™s been a mixed bag of weather this week ๐ŸŒง๏ธโ˜€๏ธ, but our teams have been out and about across our communities.

    Community Engagement Officer Lisa met with Age Concern to discuss partnership working, and Eddie has been in South Ribble, Holme Slack and Deepdale, where he met with local PCSOs to discuss anti-social behaviour in the area. On Thursday, both Lisa and Eddie attended a community half-term event at The Hub on Grange Park, chatting to tenants and their families about upcoming courses on offer and other opportunities to get involved. It was a great event, organised by Let's Grow Preston with stalls, food, representatives from local police and fire services, dancers and arts and crafts ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽจ

    Our Grounds Maintenance teams have been busy since the grass-cutting season has come to a close, removing disused planters and rotted wood from the gardens at independent living scheme, Oak Tree Court. They finished off by sowing grass and wildflower seed which will provide some lovely colour next Spring and Summer ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒน

    ๐Ÿบ This week kicked off with an afternoon of seasonal fun at The Courtyardsโ€™ Oktoberfest! Residents enjoyed German-themed food a raffle and musical entertainment from Independent Living Facilitator John!

    ๐ŸŒง๏ธ The Engagement team carried out a mini pop-up in the Ashton area, promoting our Winter Warmer sessions in November, which will support tenants with heating, cookery and money advice as the weather gets colder.

    ๐Ÿค The team also spoke to tenants in Dawson and Aughton Walks in the city centre, consulting them about the removal of some benches which are a focus for anti-social behaviour, as well as a range of ways they can get involved. As you can see, they're sporting new CGA-branded beanies, ready for winter!

    ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Engagement Officer Eddie spent some time in Moor Nook, following up an environmental audit by the Police, to see how we could support them in the area.

    ๐Ÿ’ป Our Gateway Central group met on Thursday evening for an Insight and Information workshop, and were given new Chrome Books to help them carry out their roles. Gateway Central is a sub-committee of our Board, overseeing the development of our Community Empowerment Strategy, monitoring customer service performance and look at all tenant consultation activity.     ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Another busy week saw the Engagement team holding pop-up sessions in Ingol, Brookfield and a walkabout in the Douglas and Swansea Streets area, promoting our Rebuild with Hope sale and encouraging tenants to fill in their Tenant Satisfaction surveys. Eddie, Lisa and Sharon also visited Brookfield with Amanda from our Tenancy Management team.


    ๐Ÿš“ Eddie met with local neighbourhood policing teams in Moor Nook and Ribbleton to discuss ways of working together to tackle a rise in anti-social behaviour in the area. He also popped into The Hub on Grange Park to have a chat with members of the Glees lunch club.


    ๐Ÿ›๏ธ On Friday, we hosted a very successful sale of discounted high-street goods with our friends Rebuild with Hope, which was well attended by CGA colleagues and tenants keen to pick up a bargain or two!

    ๐Ÿ’ฐ Our Community Fund Panel met this week, awarding over ยฃ8500 in funding to local community projects that benefit our tenants and communities. Applications included an air fryer cooking course, youth activities and social events that aim to reduce isolation for older people.


    โ„๏ธ This week our Engagement team were really pleased to be able to get together with partners across Preston at Preston Community Hub for National Energy Action's 'Prepare for Winter' event. It was great to have the chance to chat to tenants and local residents who were getting lots of support and advice about staying warm and well in the colder weather.


    ๐Ÿงถ Earlier in the week Sharon and Lisa were accompanied by colleague Amanda from our Tenancy Management Team to carry out a community pop-up in Ingol, sharing volunteering opportunities with tenants. They also dropped in to visit the Knitting Group at Ingol Library, who were delighted to receive a donation of yarn!


    ๐Ÿ• Engagement Officer Eddie rounded off the week joining in the monthly litter-pick at the Hub in Grange Park with The Friends of Grange Park and Brockholes Wood, which was followed by pizza made by Let's Grow Preston and their volunteers.

    ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ Itโ€™s been another busy week here at CGA, which kicked off with our Chief Executive, Rob Wakefield, joining Gateway Central at their meeting to talk them through his ideas for our new Vision, Values and Corporate Plan. The Committee shared plenty of opinions and insight to help shape and develop these projects before theyโ€™re presented to Board next week.


    ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Our Engagement team joined Tenancy Management colleagues at the launch of LCCโ€™s Preston Family Hubs, which was also well attended by local partners and families.


    ๐ŸŽ Sharon was in Moor Nook to sign up another allotment holder, and was happy to see the apple trees full of lovely-looking fruit!


    ๐Ÿช‘ Eddie and Lisa visited one of city centre neighbourhoods to check out some benches which tenants had identified as being a focus for anti-social behaviour. This is part of a wide project to tackle ASB in the area.


    ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฝ The team also held a community pop-up in the St Matthews area, meeting tenants and chatting about ways they can get involved.


    ๐Ÿงฝ Our Cleansing team have been busy on the Grange Estate, power washing the communal outdoor space to improve the environment for everyone.
