Our weekly round up from the teams! This week we've visited city centre tenants to have a chat about ways they can get involved with us. We've also been at Gateway2You sessions in Moor Nook and Ingol, answering questions and concerns and bringing our services right to you. A handy bunch of tenants took part in a second painting and decorating workshop at our charitable subsidiary, Preston Vocational Centre, learning new DIY skills - we also did some filming at PVC, so look out for a video coming soon, all about the centre, its staff and students and the wonderful work they do!

🌹 Lisa and Eddie also took part in Red Rose Recovery's Lancashire User Forum, on hand to chat and network. The team also held a pop-up in Moor Nook, letting tenants know about ways to get involved with CGA. 🌹
🎨 On the way back they popped in to see tenants Dawn and Duke and drop off the chairs they'd upcycled on our recent course - great job guys! 🪑

☕ It was lovely to see members of Farri Park's Over 50s Friendship Group enjoying an afternoon tea together at The Courtyards, supported by our Community Fund - what a nice way to round off the week! 🍰

🖌️ It’s been a creative week at CGA – from decorating and planting at our Pot Doodle session for families, to a Wallpapering Workshop delivered by our friends at Preston Vocational Centre plus the final Upcycling course, which has proved really popular. One tenant who took part told us: “We felt very welcomed and well supported. The rest of our small group were also welcoming and we all got on so well even though we were all meeting for the first time. We enjoyed prepping, painting and waxing our two chairs. It was a wonderful inclusive course that I shall be telling my friends about. Thank you for organising it.” 🎨

The teams have also been making themselves available to tenants right in the 💜 of our communities, holding Gateway2You drop-ins in Ashton and Blackpool. Got a question for us or something you’d like to find out about? Keep an eye out for a Gateway2You where you are!

They've been upcycling old furniture 🎨, cooking and eating together 🥘, popping along to our Gateway2You sessions and chatting to us as we're out and about in our neighbourhoods. This week there have been plenty of opportunities to have a chat with our teams as they’ve been out in the heart of our communities. We’ve held three Gateway2You sessions in Ashton, city centre / Deepdale and Lea – an area specifically asked for by tenants. These regular sessions bring our services to you, offering advice on involvement, repairs, anti-social behaviour, allocations and more. Engagement officer Eddie found time in between sessions to drop a donation of books off at St Catherine’s Hospice shop!

The week ended with a day of action in the St Matthew’s area, joining forces with neighbourhood police to help tackle anti-social behaviour which had been reported by tenants, and it was great to see and chat to so many people.

We want you to be satisfied that we are making positive contributions to your neighbourhoods, so check out what our teams have been up to this week:

🗣 A group of involved tenants joined us to review the way we communicate with those tenants who fall into arrears, giving us their valuable insight and opinions.

🤝 A pop up in Brookfield, talking to tenants about the involvement opportunities we have coming up.

🧶 Lovely to see so many tenants at Ingol Library’s Knit & Natter group – a real sense of community.

⛪ One of our regular Gateway2You sessions at Ascension Church in Brookfield, with a colleague from Tenancy Management offering advice and support where you need it.

🥘 Beanstalk Food and Cookery held another of their very popular air fryer cookery classes, supported by our Community Fund, making delicious food in a friendly and welcoming space.

🌳 GreenCare have been carrying out tree work near Dovedale Park, felling some trees identified as a risk. The team replaced the ash and hawthorn they removed with oak trees. They also created habitat piles and installed bird tables, so people visiting the park can watch the birds feed.

🧑 Our Engagement Team were also happy to donate some items to RAFT’s (Residents of Farringdon and Thirlmere) new Youth Club for teens.

Spring is springing, so Eddie popped along to see how our community allotments at Moor Nook are looking – check out that cabbage!

This week saw the launch of the Preston Central Family Hub, and our team were there to meet tenants and their families enjoying this new resource. It was also great to visit Boston Way Community Centre and the People’s Pantry opening day – we’re looking forward to seeing tenants growing their own!
